Now the ultimate thing of obesity I’ve seen is laziness. I mean it. We are, as a country, getting lazier every day. It’s not just about diet, it’s about the lack of exercise. I’ll admit I’ve gotten lazier since getting a desk job. When I was in a waitressing position, I was always on my feet and I was skinny. I don’t go to certain extremes, but it’s resulted in about 10 pounds weight gain, which makes a big difference! This being said, there are some people who go to greater levels than me, and then you see why they tend to be overweight as opposed to their neighbors who do not. For example, I’ve seen people who take the escalator to the gym. The whole point of going to the gym is to exercise! So what exactly are you doing. Moreover, there have been people I’ve lived by who literally speaking would get in their car and drive to go next door. I mean if you live in an extremely dangerous neighborhood where getting in and out only in garages is necessary, I can see this. I can definitely see this. But the chances of you living in this kind of neighborhood are slim to none. I know I haven’t. But seriously, it’s this kind of laziness, like freaking out when you don’t have the remote because you actually have to get up to change the channel that is leading in part to even greater levels of national obesity.

Thursday, September 24th, 2009The Best Shape Of Your Life
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009No matter your age, programs like P90X have shown that you can still be in the best possible shape of your life. They have shown people who were 50, 60, and so on who were in better shape than they were in when they were 20. So it obviously is a big deal, it obviously presents big issues in general, and you can definitely achieve better results. Now it’s harder as you get older for obvious reasons. Your metabolism just doesn’t work like it used to, and quite frankly speaking, your body in general just doesn’t work like it used to. This means you will have to work a little harder, run a little farther and faster, and otherwise lift a little more. But it also means that these things are far more important to your health and wellbeing. As you get older, things like bone mass break down over time, and this leads to greater issues as a whole. So when you build muscle, you protect these vital elements, and therefore you are actually able to keep your body from breaking down, prevent injury, and otherwise. So if you find options to really be in the best shape of your life at an older age, I would definitely take it.
Is The Gay Community Skinnier?
Monday, September 21st, 2009I will admit, being skinny is highly appealing, and frankly there are people who say that it’s not realistic, because the majority of Americans are obese or overweight. But realistically speaking, shouldn’t it be more realistic I guess? I mean obviously, the people who are skinny still aren’t all magically so gifted that they stay skinny. There are healthy foods available. Most of us just don’t choose them. It’s a matter of caring. I mean I went to a gay bar the other night, and I had no idea what to expect. My friend has been insisting I do it for a while, because it’s basically a bunch of gay boys and a few girls that they bring along. This being said, I think I saw 5 total people I would even consider to be overweight in there. Maybe gay guys care more about what they look like, well I take that back, gay guys definitely as a general rule care more what they look like than the average guy. Whether this means covering zits with a good concealer because they don’t have to be “manly” or dressing well or actually working out even if they’re already dating someone, which most strait guys don’t do. They let themselves go, because they’re already covered anyway. And frankly, I’ve seen some of my friends’ families and some of them don’t come from a great weight gene pool, and yet again I’ve rarely seen gay men for some reason that are even slightly overweight. They have the benefit of male bodies that naturally have better fat burning mechanisms, and they put in the work.
Cardio In Jump Rope
Monday, September 7th, 2009There have been some that have used jump ropes to lose weight. It makes sense, it creates a certain amount of cardio while requiring some muscle to make certain jumps, as well as coordination. I used to be really good at it when I was a kid, and that was our main recess activity in the summer, that and over the wall and trying to get the metal swings to actually go over the swing set in a full circle. I actually got really close a few times, not quite making it I think because they had some kind of built in restrictions at the top and I got scared. That being said, a lot of people use childhood things like this. They also use trampolines, but mini trampolines generally speaking. It’s no miracle exercise or diet plan. But it can definitely be fun, and you really get yourself going. Now with jumping rope, it’s not nearly as easy as you think, and honestly I’m pretty sure I had more muscle tone and energy as a kid. But as with any exercise, you have to build up your endurance and other levels for proper exercise, and in the meantime you should really supplement in other exercises to get up to at least 30 minutes of regular cardio.
The 8 Minute Workout
Friday, August 28th, 2009There are 8 minute workouts that some participate in and they are said to leave them soaking in sweat and losing inches after just a few days as well as of course the pounds. Many find this hard to believe for understandable reasons. But if you haven’t noticed, many of these tend to be bigger people. The internal organs are the biggest metabolizers pound for pound. So those who are obese generally speaking tend to have higher metabolisms even though that doesn’t make sense. That being said, if they also just started exercising recently and they have no real history of exercising before that, the smallest exercises can get their heart rate up and going and therefore it would explain the extreme sweating with little exertion. Over time, this effect will go down and then they will have to use more regular exercises in terms of time and effort. This being said, even with all those factors considered, 8 minutes is not enough time to actually get the heart rate up and burn more fat to a greater extent. You could burn about 100 calories at most during an extremely arduous 8 minute workout. However, this is highly unlikely even then, and it would be inconsequential either way. However, the results are unlikely in general, and it is more likely that people using this method are exaggerating their own results.
Health Risks
Thursday, August 27th, 2009There are so many health problems with obesity. There are some who would try to tell you it’s all a government conspiracy to be prejudiced against obese individuals. But if you have ever been obese, you know it’s not healthy, you know you’re not healthy and frankly the side effects whether social or medical are not pleasant. It’s not just the statistics. You have experienced it yourself. So while it may seem more convenient in some ways to stay in denial, you have to face realities. There are some skinnier people yes who suffer from type 2 diabetes. But the vast majority are obese, and frankly obesity is often associated with bad diet and lack of exercise. And there’s also the fact that quite frankly, many people actually recover from type 2 diabetes by using a good diet and exercise plan and losing weight. Sleep apnea, I’ve never seen in someone who was not obese personally speaking, and most haven’t, I’ve never even heard of one. High blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart disease can be aggravated by genetics. But they are most commonly associated with obesity. So while you can stick your head in the sand and insist it’s all a government conspiracy, it’s better just to look it up and think about it.
Plateau
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009Obviously, if you have hit a plateau weight, your normal workout and diet routine is no longer working to show you results. Hopefully at this point, it’s not too hard to keep up, and it’s been a lifestyle change for you. But at this point, it’s time to mix things up a little. If you actually mix it up from the beginning, it works a little bit better. You can for example actually mix up your caloric intake to have more every 3 days or so, this so that your body does not get used to any particular caloric intake and therefore does not adjust to it. In addition, mix up your exercise routine for the same reason. Your body will not get used to this, and though adaptable, it’s not quite that adaptable in general terms. So if you have hit this point, try pressuring it a little more and mixing up your diet along the way so that you can keep it from going into plateau mode again. Mix up your exercise routine, and frankly keep hope in mind meaning that if you are just losing weight more slowly, you are not failing. You should be losing weight slowly rather than too quickly.
Throw Like A Girl
Thursday, July 16th, 2009Where did the concept or statement of “you throw like a girl” come from? I mean I’ve seen just as many guys who can’t throw a ball as girls. It has something to do with weight and muscle and all that. I mean it’s about technique too. But at the same point in time, if you haven’t worked out and put the core effort into certain areas, you aren’t going to get that powerful throw no matter what technique you may have. For example, the press’ recent thing is that Obama apparently throws like a girl at some baseball thing. I’ve seen a video of him shooting hoops with a college basketball team, and he certainly doesn’t “shoot like a girl.” It’s sad that we’re even focusing on the idea that he can’t throw a ball properly anyway. But I mean honestly, why is it that we think that’s throwing like a girl instead of throwing like a boy. Granted, most sports at least in the professional arena have been at least first spearheaded by men, partly because men are willing to participate in the workouts involved to strengthen that particular area as well as the core to get that right throw. But at the same point in time, women are perfectly capable of doing the same workouts, learning the same skills, and essentially speaking performing.
Exercises For Fat Burning
Monday, July 6th, 2009If you want to lose weight, you should use a healthy balance of different kinds of exercise. For example, if you lift weights all the time, you may build muscle. But that muscle will be hidden under a layer of fat thick or thin. So it’s not exactly the results you want. It should definitely be an integral part of your workout, and for lean muscle, of course use smaller weights. Just don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Instead, try combining this with aerobic or cardio workouts. These burn more fat, especially in aerobic stances, because you are burning calories at a different rate than you would by sprinting for example, and you burn more fat in those calories. So if you follow weight training with cardio, you get better results. In addition, if you participate in circuit training, which is essentially jumping back and forth between different muscle groups, you give each time to recover and therefore give you greater results. All of these can help you to burn more fat while building more muscle to maintain your results for a longer period of time. It just depends on you as far as getting all the results you want instead of just some of them.
